Since February, we have been diligently evaluating all of the City Council candidates in District 7, researching their background, exploring their websites, attending numerous candidate forums, and conducting personal interviews with, and evaluating answers to written questionnaires sent to the five best candidates according to our values and critical issues for downtown livability.
After the most recent downtown Forum on July 10th, our Board met again to evaluate their performance and agree on an endorsement for the Primary Election on August 6.
The final five of Gene Burrus, Daniela Eng, Michael George, Andrew Lewis, and Jim Pugel are all good people, and were collegial and professional in each venue where we engaged with them. This was a difficult decision, and after much review and discussion, and a final personal interview with our top contenders, we voted and agreed to endorse Gene Burrus. Gene most closely aligns with our values, and understands and supports without equivocation our Downtown Residents Alliance positions on the critical issues for downtown livability.
